If I Had to Start Again With ClickBank Today, I Would Do This

If I had to start again with ClickBank today, I would do far less.

Not because I would take it less seriously, but because one thing I have learnt over the years is how easy it is to be busy without actually getting very far.

I’ve tried different opportunities, tools and ways of making money online. The temptation is always to keep adding something else. I wrote previously about some of the mistakes that can keep ClickBank affiliates stuck, and many of them come back to this same problem.

Another product. Another traffic method. Another piece of software.

Before long, you have plenty going on but nothing is really finished.

If I were starting again today, I would approach it differently.

1. I Would Pick One Clear Outcome

Not ten goals. One.

And “make money online” isn’t really an outcome. It is what you hope will eventually happen.

My first objective would be to build a simple working system that also builds something I own — particularly an email list.

Once I know what I am trying to build, it becomes much easier to decide what I should and shouldn’t be doing.

This actually takes me back to something I used throughout my working life as a project manager:

What does success look like?

Define that first, then work backwards.

2. I Would Stop Treating the Offer as the Business

This is something I think is very easy to get wrong with affiliate marketing.

You find a product you like, get your affiliate link and immediately start thinking about how you can get people to click it.

I’ve done it myself.

But the product isn’t really the business.

The system behind it is more important: your pages, your email list, your follow-up and your method of attracting visitors.

Products can change.

If you have built something of your own, you don’t necessarily have to go back to the beginning every time they do.

3. I Would Follow a Simple Build Order

This is probably one of the biggest things I would change.

It is very easy to build a page and then spend hours changing it.

Write an email. Rewrite it.

Find another piece of training. Watch that.

Discover another tool. Investigate that.

And somehow another day has disappeared.

Sound familiar?

A build order gives me something I’ve often been missing online: a clear answer to “What am I supposed to be doing now?”

This is one of the things that attracted me to The ClickBank Profit Club.

I explained in an earlier post why I decided to join the free membership in the first place.

I’m still working through the system, so I’m not going to tell you that it has transformed my business or produced spectacular results. I don’t know that yet.

What I can say is that I like having a structure to follow rather than continually deciding what to do next.

I’ve also explained how The ClickBank Profit Club works in plain English if you want a better idea of what the system actually involves.

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links. If you purchase through one of my links, I may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.

4. I Would Build Consistency Before Worrying About Scale

It is tempting to think about getting hundreds or thousands of visitors before you have proved that the basic process works.

I’d do the opposite now.

Get something working.

Keep doing it.

See what happens.

Then improve it.

I’d rather make a small amount of consistent progress than have the occasional burst of activity followed by another change of direction.

5. I Would Build the Asset

This follows naturally from everything above.

If somebody clicks an affiliate link, visits the seller’s website and disappears, I may never have another opportunity to communicate with that person.

Building an email list changes that.

It gives me the opportunity to stay in contact, provide useful information and, where appropriate, introduce other products in the future.

Of course, having an email list doesn’t guarantee that anybody will buy anything.

But at least I am building something of my own rather than starting from zero with every new visitor.

Something New Inside ClickBank Profit Club

There has also been a new addition since I joined which I thought was worth mentioning.

It’s called The Profit Book Club.

Rather than being included automatically with the free ClickBank Profit Club membership, this is an additional paid resource available to members.

At the moment, individual guides are priced between $9.95 and $17.95, so members can simply choose a particular guide and buy it separately.

There is also currently an option to pay $49.95 for access to all the existing guides. At the time I’m writing this, buying those guides separately would cost $75.70.

After the first month, the Book Club costs $9.95 per month, which provides access to the new guides released each month. The current commitment is that at least one new guide will be added each month.

More guides may also be added, so obviously the prices and value of the collection could change after I’ve published this.

Do you need the Profit Book Club to join ClickBank Profit Club?

No.

And I think that’s important to make clear.

You can start with the free ClickBank Profit Club membership, look around and decide what you think of the approach before deciding whether you want to buy anything else.

That’s exactly what I would do if I were starting again.

So, What Would I Do First?

I wouldn’t buy ten tools.

I wouldn’t choose five products.

And I certainly wouldn’t start three different strategies at the same time.

I’d choose one direction, follow the steps in order and actually finish what I started.

It sounds ridiculously simple when I write it down.

Perhaps that’s the point.

If you want to see the system I’m currently following, you can start with the free membership and make up your own mind.

I’ll continue documenting what I actually do with it — including what works, what doesn’t and anything I would do differently.
